2022 - Honoring our military
At a recent Chapter meeting, members focused on honoring and supporting Veterans and active service men and women. Various stations were set-up around the meeting room for members to engage in activities such as writing thank you notes to Veterans, clipping coupons to send to military families and packing care packages for soldiers.

Ska-Hase-Ga-O Chapter's booth at the Lima Crossroads Festival was a popular place! Chapter members were busy selling flags for our annual Veteran's Day display and telling attendees about the DAR. Our colonial selfie-boards were a big hit, especially with the FRC 2228 CougarTech robotics team, in the center photo.

January, 2022: Good Citizens Award Annual Tea
The article highlighted our annual tea where participants in the DAR Good Citizen Program are invited to join us and read their essays. This year's tea was held at Elm Place, a beautifully restored estate. We all enjoyed tea, coffee, pastries, and the company of our Good Citizen participants and their families.

2021- Annual flag salute to Veterans
Over 75 flags were placed in front of the Lima Town Hall by the Ska-Hase-Ga-O chapter in November to honor Veterans and active servicemen and women. This annual salute to our military has become a signature event for our chapter.
2021- Ska-Hase-Ga-O donates to veterans and local food pantry
The DAR prides itself for being one of the largest service-based organizations for women in the world. In 2021, the Ska-Hase-Ga-O chapter collected hats and gloves for the local food pantry as well as toiletry items for Veterans.
2021- Member receives 65-year certificate for service to the DAR
In a presentation delayed by the pandemic, Ska-Hase-Ga-O Chapter officers recently presented a member an official certificate honoring her 65 years of service to the DAR. When the time comes, we hope to present her with her 70-year certificate in a more timely manner!

Our chapter's flag memorial project honoring veterans was featured in the October 28 edition of the Livingston County News. This project first began at the Lima Crossroads Blues Festival in August 2018, where festival attendees donated a flag in honor of a loved one who served in the military. This year, 70 flags were placed at the Town of Lima Veterans Memorial in November by our intrepid Chapter members. See the full story, including photos of the flag display, here.
Blessing bags for veterans
November 2019
November 2019
The Ska-Hase-Ga-O chapter teamed up with the International United Miss (IUM) pageant-system to collect needed items for the homeless Veterans in Rochester. Through various donation efforts, these two organizations collected items to successfully package 35 individual "Blessing Bags". Each bag contained a variety of items including soap, washcloths, towels, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb/brush, tissues, socks, and gloves. In addition, handmade holiday cards from local area students were also included in the bags to thank the Veterans for their service. These bags were then donated to the homeless shelters operated by the Veterans Outreach Center of Rochester.
