Eligibility:
Any woman at least 18 years of age regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible. Patriots are men or women, soldiers, or others who contributed to the cause of American freedom.
The applicant must complete an application for membership. (our registrar is available to advise/assist you). Often prospective members find their patriot’s service has been proven in years past by another Daughter, and the prospective member may simply link onto an already proven line. Otherwise, prospective members will be asked to provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death on her application that is not previously proven. The first three generations (applicant, applicant’s parents, and applicant’s grandparents) must be in the form of copies of readily available vital statistics. Other records are often available from censuses and substantiated publications. NSDAR reserves the right to determine the acceptability of all proofs/documentation submitted with an application.
If you would like more information about joining a DAR chapter in your area visit the National Society website and click on “Join”. If you would like more information about joining Ska-Hase-Ga-O Chapter NSDAR, please contact our chapter representative. If you are not quite ready for the official application, you are welcome to attend one of our meetings where we can help you get started researching your lineage.
Thank you for your interest in DAR, the oldest women-run organization in the world, dedicated to historical preservation, genealogy, and veterans issues.
